Freedom and Freedom FinAid Recommended System Requirements

Note: For customers that have opted for either a SaaS or a hosted solution, there are no server requirements for this product.

Workstations Requirements

Hardware

• 2 Core CPU
• 4GB RAM
• 2GB of free storage

Software

• Windows 10 or higher
• Adobe Acrobat Reader or other PDF reader

Network Connections

• Business class broadband internet connection
• Local network speed of at least 25Mbs for SaaS or Hosted solutions
• Local network speed of at least 100Mbs for on-premise solutions

File Server

Note: We do not support installing Freedom on a local workstation and accessing the file server over a WAN/VPN connection. We recommend using RDP to connect to a Terminal Server that is on the same local network as the file server, if remote access is needed.

Hardware

• 8 GB of RAM
• SAS Drives
  • Data - 3 drives RAID5 or SAN
  • OS - 2 drives RAID1

Software

• Windows Server 2016 or higher
  • Microsoft is ending support for Server 2012 and 2012 R2 in October, 2023 and thus not recommended by FAME for use as a server for Freedom and Freedom Finaid.

Remote Desktop Server (For Multi-Site Customers)

Hardware

• 8 Core CPU
• 16 GB of RAM (or more depending on number of users)
• 2 SAS Drives RAID1

Software

• Windows Server 2016 or higher
  • Microsoft is ending support for Server 2012 and 2012 R2 in October, 2023 and thus not recommended by FAME for use as a server for Freedom and Freedom Finaid.

Backup System

• Reliable backup system required (i.e. tape drive, removable media, or better)
